Sometimes you just need
a good, solid nap.
Ode to Spring Napping
Sleepless nights and work filled days
The weight of my eyes mimic the pounding of my fingers against my keyboard.
My hunger is satisfied by my stress, anxiety and a tiny cafe
Nourished by theory, soy crisps. Need to finish.
Review. Print. Staple. Run.
Bodies on the grass
Vitamin D and sweet breeze tempting me.
To play? To hang? To chill? To nap?
Biological clock: its time to crash
Back to. My humble. Abode. Word.
White sheets and fuzzy pillows
My body sinks into the bed, no energy to rest.
Adieu frenemies caffeine and stimulants
Is that tree outside Grandmother Willow?
Eyes shut. Mind dead. Delusional. Rest
Paying my sleep debt
The breeze lightly touches my face.
Heat dispersed over my body
Sweat on the back of my knees, wet
Hot. Bothered. Tired. Tryna sleep
Alas! I nap
Wake up to moist sheets and red cheeks and the SUN.
Oh where did you go old friend? During those months of winter when I napped and woke up to darkness?
You are here now old chap
Rested. Sweaty. Temporal confusion. Ready to Rage
